SSP Launches OnDemand Video Content Library with Support from Cadmore and 3Play Media

July 13, 2020 – Mt. Laurel, NJ – The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) announces the launch of its OnDemand Video Content Library, an innovative, “anywhere, anytime” alternative to the traditional webinar broadcast, designed for scholarly communications professionals to learn about timely topics and recent developments in publishing. As part of a generous in-kind sponsorship, Cadmore Media and 3Play Media have provided video hosting, transcription, and closed-captioning services.

This asynchronous learning platform offers a variety of free and paid content that users can access when and where they need it. New content will be released each week through early fall for the initial content series; free materials and paid recordings can be accessed individually or as part of a curated series.

Special broadcasts with live chats provide an opportunity to interact with presenters and others interested in the topic, and videos include fully searchable transcripts and rich metadata to facilitate discovery.

Violaine Iglesias, CEO & Co-founder, Cadmore Media, said: “We are thrilled to provide the hosting and streaming technology for the new SSP OnDemand platform. The platform will utilize the full suite of technologies that Cadmore Media has developed over the past months to support online events and is integrated with SSP’s e-commerce platform. Building on all the work that Cadmore has undertaken in accessibility and synchronized transcriptions, the SSP OnDemand Video Content Library has the potential to reach a wider audience both demographically and geographically, and help SSP progress towards its diversity and inclusion objectives.”

Lily Bond, Director of Marketing, 3Play Media, said: “We’re thrilled that the SSP OnDemand Video Content Library is prioritizing accessibility and engagement for all users of their virtual professional development resources. 3Play Media is proud to provide closed captioning services for the platform.”

As part of this new initiative, SSP is debuting their “2020 Professional Development Series,” presentations and talks on current trends and issues in scholarly communications—from the impact of COVID-19 to diversity, equity, and inclusion in publishing—available at your convenience. All sessions may be accessed asynchronously after their release date, but registrants can also interact with presenters and fellow audience members during live screenings. Videos will be offered on the following topics: Business Models and Strategies; Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion; Editorial Innovations; Ethics and Standards; Global Trends; and Research Perspectives.

Melanie Dolechek, Executive Director, SSP, said: “SSP is excited to offer this new professional development resource. We hope that the breadth of topics, a variety of viewing options, and flexible pricing for multiple sessions or users will allow these resources to reach a wide audience. As we all adapt to new circumstances, professionals need to be able to access high-quality professional development in a way that accommodates their needs and schedules. With the cancellation of industry-wide face-to-face events, the new OnDemand Library ensures our community has access to the professional development resources it needs in order to thrive.”

Pricing discounts are available for individuals who purchase multiple sessions and for organizations that want to secure a license granting access to all content in a series for many users.
