Video in Scholarly Communications: Issue #5
September 16, 2021
Welcome to the “back to school” issue of Video in Scholarly Communications. No matter how many years it’s been since I was in school, September always means new pencils and notebooks and a renewed sense of purpose. At Cadmore, a big piece of our purpose is making multimedia accessible to all, and so we’re gratified that a recent accessibility audit of the American Psychological Association’s PsycTherapy database, hosted on the Cadmore platform, received high marks. David Berman Communications performed the audit and notes that PsycTherapy “meets or exceeds every success criterion required for WCAG 2.0 Level AA, WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and EN 301 549 conformance.”
Summer 2021 proved just as busy as the rest of the year, with a significant highlight being our hosting of AIAA’s Aviation Forum and Propulsion and Energy Forum virtual meetings. Both events, held back-to-back over two weeks on the Cadmore virtual event platform, featured more than 4,200 contributors, 2,600 attendees, 25 concurrent sessions, and nearly 500 total sessions. The AIAA team was, as always, a joy to work with and the gamification tools we developed for these events are now available to all Cadmore clients. A few more stats from this remarkable event (I’m now eagerly awaiting a future of electric planes!):
We’re so pleased to welcome the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH) to Cadmore. This essential organization, based out of London, provides training, resources, and best practices for mental health professionals worldwide. Stay tuned for details on how the Cadmore media library technology will help ACAMH continue to grow and fulfill this important mission.
Finally, we sponsored our first Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE) meeting, where association executives share challenges, successes, and strategies for meeting the needs of their communities. Of especial interest were the session on reimagining virtual and hybrid events. Despite the incredible challenges – staffing, technology, and budgets are just a few – the creativity and success stories demonstrated by a range of societies are truly impressive.
If you’d like to share a success story or questions or chat about video strategy overall, I’d love to hear from you. My pencils are sharpened and a fresh notebook awaits!
Cheers,
CMO, Cadmore Media

The relaxation of travel protocols in the UK meant the entire UK team was able to get together in person for the first time for a day of socially-distanced theatre and some quality time in the pub.
